Synopsis: Set in Slavonia, northern Croatia in 1963, Holy Family is a culturally rich costume drama which intimately depicts the lives of its village protagonists.
Janja is an orphaned Bosnian day laborer hired by Marko, a wealthy landowner, to work in his fields. A mishap ensures that Janja becomes drawn more closely into the lives of the landowner’s family and she eventually becomes the wife of Marko’s shy and diffident son Ivo. However, this seemingly fairytale event turns into a tragic nightmare for all.
